Benefits ...

Infant Massage is a rare and beautiful gift for parents, aiding them in the rearing of their children into responsible, well adjusted adults, The IAIM is an organization started in America by Vimala Schneider McClure to educate parents on the dynamics of the parent-child trust. It is the most important foundation upon which a child learns about the self and how to trust and respect other people. As a parent, loving relative or caregiver of an infant, you want to see your child flourish. Touch is as important as food for healthy mental and physical development. Massage provides attentive, pleasurable touch that can promote your baby’s well-being while increasing your ability to respond to his or her needs.

Other benefits of nurturing touch include:

    * Helps relieve colic, tummy discomfort and teething
    * Help stimulate all the body’s systems, i.e. immune, respiratory, nervous, endocrine, etc.
    * Helps child cope with birth traumas
    * Helps baby sleep better
    * Deepens bonding
    * Improves communication
    * Child learns to identify a healthy, positive touch

Benefits for parents include:

    * Helps the parent to feel more competent and confident in their parent role
    * Opportunity for closeness and focused time together, for working parents and their babies
    * Increases parents’ ability to help relax child in time of stress
    * Increases self-esteem of parents by reinforcing their parenting skills
    * Baby’s daily massage time offers parent a time to relax and unwind from the busy pace of life
    * It enhances communication and builds respect between parent and child
    * It enhances the bond between parents and adopted children
    * It provides intimacy and special time for father and child
    * It’s fun and relaxing for parents to massage their children
    * It brings parents closer to each other by working towards a common goal: loving your baby & building a stronger family bond.

A Bond Like No Other

I am overwhelmed by the intense emotion I have.
It is strange to be in this space, strange to feel these emotions. Good strange though. I am loving this moment.
I haven't stopped staring at this little treasure that we have created, hours go by and still I am staring. I don't even remember thinking much... I am just staring in awe, disbelief perhaps?
I notice your emotion. I notice how you are so obviously different and equally overwhelmed. You are absolutely in love.

What is this beginning to happen? Something I am unfamiliar with but I am enjoying none the less. Could I ever have imagined that I would be able to stand by and watch the single most intense emotion develop between the love of my life, my soul mate, my everything and this perfect little human angel ....

The bond continues to grow. Changes from time to time, but always there. I am sorry for the many people who battle to bond with their baby... some through no fault of their own. I want to help them, show them what it feels like, give them the emotion and sensation as if it is a wrapped up present with the most decadent chocolate malt puffs. For me, it satisfies all the senses.

The bond between a parent and a child - a bond like no other!

A Whole new world

You are perfectly comfortable, perfectly warm, dreaming perfect dreams .... you are suddenly woken in a very imperfect way... Why must you wake up? to what and for what? all you see is  bright light, all you feel is a cold draught, all you hear is loud and disturbing sounds you are not familiar with, chaos in every direction .... far from anything perfect!

"Welcome to the world our little baby"

As any parent would agree, from the first moment you meet your little baby, all you want to do is protect them from anything other than perfection. You make a promise to yourself and to your baby that no matter what life brings, you will be there with all of your experience and all of your knowledge. Creating a perfect little world for them to live in - as much as you possibly can, in this ever so obvious imperfect world that you have been living in for some time already.

You gently stroke the teeny tiny little hand and even more gently touch their little head. You instinctively whisper, not taking your eyes off of this absolute miracle you get to call your own.

For some new parents, it comes so naturally. You see your baby for the first time and you just know that this is it - the real thing. You just glide into parenthood without hesitation, without over annalysing every minor detail of the "what ifs" and the "I wonders". You move from a life all about you to a world all about everything you have never known before and it all just works.

For others, it takes some time to realise that this really is it, this is REAL LOVE in every aspect, in every language, in every culture. It takes time to move from life as you knew it, to accept that life after baby could actually be more than anything you could have anticipated.

No matter how you look at it, in that very moment of your precious little baby's arrival ... it is a whole new world for everyone ...
