A Whole new world

You are perfectly comfortable, perfectly warm, dreaming perfect dreams .... you are suddenly woken in a very imperfect way... Why must you wake up? to what and for what? all you see is  bright light, all you feel is a cold draught, all you hear is loud and disturbing sounds you are not familiar with, chaos in every direction .... far from anything perfect!

"Welcome to the world our little baby"

As any parent would agree, from the first moment you meet your little baby, all you want to do is protect them from anything other than perfection. You make a promise to yourself and to your baby that no matter what life brings, you will be there with all of your experience and all of your knowledge. Creating a perfect little world for them to live in - as much as you possibly can, in this ever so obvious imperfect world that you have been living in for some time already.

You gently stroke the teeny tiny little hand and even more gently touch their little head. You instinctively whisper, not taking your eyes off of this absolute miracle you get to call your own.

For some new parents, it comes so naturally. You see your baby for the first time and you just know that this is it - the real thing. You just glide into parenthood without hesitation, without over annalysing every minor detail of the "what ifs" and the "I wonders". You move from a life all about you to a world all about everything you have never known before and it all just works.

For others, it takes some time to realise that this really is it, this is REAL LOVE in every aspect, in every language, in every culture. It takes time to move from life as you knew it, to accept that life after baby could actually be more than anything you could have anticipated.

No matter how you look at it, in that very moment of your precious little baby's arrival ... it is a whole new world for everyone ...
